Gulf spearfishing dive from a South Georgia trip

Tide & Trail is a home-base outdoor site run from Tifton, Georgia. The “Tide” is spearfishing the Florida Big Bend and Forgotten Coast — Carrabelle, Steinhatchee, Apalachicola — plus tournament weeks at the St. Pete Open. The “Trail” is hunting and field time: Georgia seasons and western hunts when the calendar lines up.

This is not generic tourism copy. The long pieces are real trip reports — 160-foot ledge drops, Indian Pass weekends, family elk hunts, and the gear that actually survives a Friday night drive down I-75.

What you’ll find here

Why Tifton

South Georgia sits on a clean corridor to the Gulf. Steinhatchee is roughly a 3-hour run; Carrabelle about 3.5; Apalachicola closer to 4. That weekend rhythm — leave Friday, dive Saturday/Sunday, work Monday — is the backbone of this site.

7+ consecutive years on the St. Pete Open circuit. Forgotten Coast structure diving. One 84-lb carbo (black grouper) story that still gets told on the boat.

Safety & regulations

Spearfishing and hunting kill fish and game — and bad decisions kill people. Always dive with a plan and a buddy, fly a flag, and verify current FWC / state rules before you retain anything. Links live on the resources page.
