Carrabelle Spearfishing from Tifton
Carrabelle is the Forgotten Coast gateway I use when Steinhatchee is ugly, when I want nearshore Gulf options, or when a multi-day plan includes Indian Pass energy. River mouth + Gulf access — know no-dive zones and boat traffic.
Recent real water: Indian Pass & Carrabelle trip report — 65 ft vis windows, deep structure days, lionfish and snapper missions when the Gulf opens.
Pick Carrabelle when
- Steinhatchee is blown out and you need a different lean
- You want nearshore Gulf without the full Apalach drive
- You're pairing a Carrabelle base with Indian Pass / Cape corridor days
- Vis reports look better on this stretch for the weekend
Skip or rethink when
- You only have a short Saturday window and Steinhatchee is clean (closer)
- You haven't checked river/Gulf zone rules for spearfishing
- Weather is a full blowout — stay home or fish protected water
From Tifton logistics
- Drive time: about 3.5 hours in good traffic — use the drive planner
- Leave plan: Friday after work or early Saturday depending on first splash goal
- Pack: dive bag PDF · full gear guide
- Rules: always FWC resources
